An odyssey is experiencing a franchise from start to finish in a researched order — not just one game, one season or one film, but the whole journey across every entry worth experiencing. Each odyssey has its own page tracking where I am and what I thought along the way.

Short reviews capture the verdict and key impressions when that says everything worth saying. Longer ones dig into what the media does well, where it falls short, and why — it depends on how much there actually is to talk about. Not every experience needs a thousand words, and not every one can be covered in fifty.

Every review starts as category scores — four to seven depending on the medium. An anime gets story, characters, animation, pacing and sound; a game gets performance, story, gameplay, visuals, sound and innovation. Each genre weighs the categories differently (pacing carries a romance, gameplay carries a platformer) and a work between genres gets both weightings blended. The weighted result is the craft score. Enjoyment is scored separately because how much fun I actually had is its own dimension. The overall score is simply: (craft + enjoyment) / 2.

During an odyssey I follow the franchise order. Outside of that — whatever I feel like, whatever just came out, or whatever has been on the list the longest.

Spoilers are always greyed out so you have to actively reveal them. Reviews that contain spoilers say so at the top. If there are none, there are none.
